QC BRIDGE Post-Doctoral Fellowship

  • FQCI invites innovative, technically rich project proposals from the motivated research scholars for QC BRIDGE (Bridging Research, Industry, Development, Growth, and Excellence) Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the board areas of Quantum Computing Technologies.
  • QC BRIDGE PDF is an initiative of the FQCI established by the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, under the National Quantum Mission, led by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
  • QC BRIDGE PDF aims to support motivated young researchers in conducting high-impact research in Quantum Computing Technologies and Applications.
  • The fellowship program encourages deep scientific inquiry, the development of novel quantum technologies, and problem-solving in collaboration with industry. Fellows will be mentored to become independent researchers and technology leaders. Strong focus on quantum computing technologies, including quantum algorithms, quantum computing hardware, and products or product concepts that advance quantum computing.
  • The applicant should be PhD scholar with PhD Degree from CFTIs or UGC/AICTE approved Indian universities/engineering institutes with less than 2 years of work-experience post PhD or Research Scholars having submitted their PhD thesis at the time application submission and awaiting examination.
  • The applicant should have research experience in the subjects related to Quantum Computing Technologies and applications, with publications in reputed journals and conferences, patents, involvement in laboratory/course development and other recognized relevant professional activities.
  • The applicant should be preferably below 32 years of age.
  • The applicant should not be in receipt of any other fellowship from Government sources.
  • Fellowship: ₹1,00,000 per month + HRA, as per the host institute's norms
  • Recurring Contingency Grant to support research activities: ₹2,00,000 per annum
  • Note: Candidates availing hostel or institute accommodation will not be eligible for HRA.
  • The initial tenure of the fellowship is 1 year, extendable up to 2 additional years, based on: Performance reviews; Quality of research outputs (e.g., high-impact publications, patents); Technology commercialization potential; Startup or innovation outcomes. Periodic evaluations will determine eligibility for extension.
  • The fellow will be hosted at the institute/college of the identified faculty mentor. The research will be carried out under their guidance, leveraging institutional infrastructure and collaborative networks.

Note:

  • Postdoctoral Fellows hosted under DST-NQM supported Principal Investigators (PIs): The host PI/project shall provide the fellowship per month, while FQCI will provide a contingency/research grant of ₹3 lakh per annum. The application must include a proposal jointly submitted by the candidate and the host PI, clearly demonstrating deliverables that are beyond their TG project scope.
  • Selection will be based on technical merit and candidate’s demonstrated capabilities through research outputs.
  • The decision of the expert committee regarding the selection and award of the project will be final and binding. No further correspondence will be entertained in this matter.
  • Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. Applicants are advised to ensure all documents are compiled and submitted before the deadline.

QC RISE Internship Program

FQCI invites passionate and driven undergraduate and postgraduate students to apply for the QC RISE (Research Internship & Skill Enhancement) Internship Program in the rapidly advancing field of Quantum Computing.

QC RISE Internship Program is an initiative of the Foundation for QC Innovation (FQCI), established by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), led by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The program aims to nurture the next generation of quantum researchers by providing students with hands-on research experience, mentorship from leading scientists, and exposure to cutting-edge Quantum Computing technologies and applications.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants should be pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related disciplines, with a strong interest in research, innovation, and Quantum Computing technologies.
  • Undergraduate Students: Final-year students currently in the 7th semester are eligible to apply for the 6-month internship.
  • Postgraduate Students: First-year students currently in the 2nd semester are eligible to apply for the 12-month project thesis.
  • Applicants should have a minimum CGPA/CPI of 8.0 on a 10-point scale or 75% aggregate marks up to the immediately preceding semester/year at the commencement of the internship/project.
  • Applicants should not be receiving any other Government-funded scholarship, fellowship, or grant during the internship/project period.
  • Applicants must be available to work full-time throughout the duration of the internship/project.

Support

Selected candidates will receive:

  • Monthly Stipend: ₹15,000
  • Opportunity to work alongside leading researchers and faculty at premier research institutions across India.
  • Hands-on experience in cutting-edge Quantum Computing research and technology development.
  • Opportunity to contribute to research publications, where applicable.
  • Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the internship/project.

Duration

The Undergraduate Internship is for a duration of 6 months, while the Postgraduate Project thesis is for a duration of 12 months. Applications proposing a shorter duration than the prescribed period will not be considered.

Host Institutions

Selected candidates will be placed at one of the participating host institutions, which may include IISc Bengaluru, SETS Chennai, C-DAC, TIFR, IITs, JNCASR, RRI, JIIT, NISER, and IISERs. All internships and research projects are conducted on-site, and candidates must be willing to work full-time at the assigned host institution for the entire duration of the internship or project.

Applicant Responsibilities

  • Candidates are responsible for arranging and bearing the cost of their own accommodation, food, travel, and personal expenses throughout the internship/project.
  • Candidates must ensure that suitable arrangements are made for a safe and comfortable stay during the program.
