Foundation for QC Innovation (FQCI) sponsored the International Symposium on “Building a Quantum Ready Workforce for Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Challenges and Opportunities,” organized by Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) in association with Ramaiah Institute of Technology (RIT) on 24 June 2026. The event reflected FQCI’s commitment under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) to promote quantum awareness, strengthen collaborations, and develop a skilled workforce for India’s growing quantum ecosystem.
The symposium brought together leading researchers, academicians, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss strategies for developing a skilled quantum workforce aligned with the vision of the National Quantum Mission. Technical sessions highlighted the mission’s four thematic pillars—Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Quantum Sensing & Metrology, and Quantum Materials & Devices—while emphasizing interdisciplinary education, faculty development, industry-academia collaboration, and hands-on training as key enablers of India’s quantum future.
A key highlight of the symposium was the plenary address by Prof. Shankar Kumar Selvaraja, Project Director, FQCI, IISc Bengaluru. He outlined the vision and progress of the National Quantum Mission, emphasizing its consortium-driven approach to developing indigenous quantum technologies, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and building a skilled quantum workforce. He also encouraged institutions to adopt interdisciplinary curricula, faculty development initiatives, and project-based learning to prepare students for careers in quantum technologies.
With participation from 76 representatives across academia, industry, and startups, and 150+ registrations, the symposium reflected the growing momentum of quantum technologies in India. It also reinforced the importance of collaboration in nurturing the next generation of quantum researchers, innovators, and technology leaders.
