QC RISE Internship Program

FQCI invites passionate and driven undergraduate and postgraduate students to apply for the QC RISE (Research Internship & Skill Enhancement) Internship Program in the rapidly advancing field of Quantum Computing.

QC RISE Internship Program is an initiative of the Foundation for QC Innovation (FQCI), established by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), led by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The program aims to nurture the next generation of quantum researchers by providing students with hands-on research experience, mentorship from leading scientists, and exposure to cutting-edge Quantum Computing technologies and applications.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants should be pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related disciplines, with a strong interest in research, innovation, and Quantum Computing technologies.
  • Undergraduate Students: Final-year students currently in the 7th semester are eligible to apply for the 6-month internship.
  • Postgraduate Students: First-year students currently in the 2nd semester are eligible to apply for the 12-month project thesis.
  • Applicants should have a minimum CGPA/CPI of 8.0 on a 10-point scale or 75% aggregate marks up to the immediately preceding semester/year at the commencement of the internship/project.
  • Applicants should not be receiving any other Government-funded scholarship, fellowship, or grant during the internship/project period.
  • Applicants must be available to work full-time throughout the duration of the internship/project.

Support

Selected candidates will receive:

  • Monthly Stipend: ₹15,000
  • Opportunity to work alongside leading researchers and faculty at premier research institutions across India.
  • Hands-on experience in cutting-edge Quantum Computing research and technology development.
  • Opportunity to contribute to research publications, where applicable.
  • Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the internship/project.

Duration

The Undergraduate Internship is for a duration of 6 months, while the Postgraduate Project thesis is for a duration of 12 months. Applications proposing a shorter duration than the prescribed period will not be considered.

Host Institutions

Selected candidates will be placed at one of the participating host institutions, which may include IISc Bengaluru, SETS Chennai, C-DAC, TIFR, IITs, JNCASR, RRI, JIIT, NISER, and IISERs. All internships and research projects are conducted on-site, and candidates must be willing to work full-time at the assigned host institution for the entire duration of the internship or project.

Applicant Responsibilities

  • Candidates are responsible for arranging and bearing the cost of their own accommodation, food, travel, and personal expenses throughout the internship/project.
  • Candidates must ensure that suitable arrangements are made for a safe and comfortable stay during the program.

  • Applicants must submit all required information and supporting documents before the application deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
